A kid back in elementary school would throw some VIOLENT tantrums. So violent, in fact, that he once broke a desk in two by slamming his fist on it twice. He would punch holes in the walls and everything.
Well, the teachers didn't do much until the fourth grade. Mr Richie didn't take his crap, so he grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and put him in the corner, embarrassing him in front of the entire class, and guess what? He never did it again. |

I'd really have to agree with Elara. A teacher really can't subdue a six year old? This is what America has come to? Afraid to discipline students because parents are money hungry bastards? It's really sad.
There is something not 'normal' with this girl if she's throwing tantrums so violently. This school she's at apparently doesn't meet her needs, and the parents of this child should seriously look into treatments and a safer environment for her (and for others). |

The cops were called because the teachers didn't do the job they were trained to do, because asshole parents are like "you touched my kid, I will sue."
The girl needs to be tested for mental disabilities. It is really hard to speculate about the case at all because they are not releasing any information. Does she have tantrums like this at home, only at school, why? If she does have special needs, why is the school not meeting them when they are required to do so by federal law? Petitioning for expungement is kinda pointless at age six, since it will be sealed with her juvenile record when she turns 18 anyway. Oh no, can't get a job for two years. Granted, the kid shouldn't have been arrested in the first place. |

YES BITMAP! Lol
I talked it over with some relatives too. They think of it like this. What the police did was called for. Why? Because what if she continued to grow up in that manner to the point where she stabs someone in the seventh grade like in the state of Florida? What if she threw a book at that moment and took out another kid's eye? |

I have a friend of mine that actually works at the school. She's told me on several occasions she has HAD tantrums before. This one just happens to be the one that broke the camels back.
The mother hasn't even gone to give the poor girl help to begin with all she did was go out and say EXPUNGE MY DAUGHTER'S ARREST RECORD! I see your point Elara and raise you... if the Petition said I can't afford counseling and the school is not a good place for it I need help getting something like this provided to me. Which is provided anyway. I know counselors that are 40.00 an hour. I'm not going to give anyone a free ride on expunging their arrest record. I know it seems heartless but I don't believe in free rides. It takes a while and she's six years old. Meaning that she can get that taken off the record even with the fees. She doesn't need a job right now and there's plenty of time for that.

Kids have tantrums, it's part of being a kid. Arresting a six year old is stupid, I am sorry. There are other ways, and better ways. Teachers are supposed to be trained to deal with kids like this, at least that is what I am being trained in next semester. From what I have read in several articles, the school didn't even try, they just called the cops. That is the school district dropping the ball, violating the parents' and students' trust, and they should pay for it.
Has anyone looked into why she was having such a violent tantrum? Did someone do something she perceived as a threat? Perhaps she has a condition that would trigger such an outburst? Autism can start presenting around that age, for example. Or emotional disabilities like schizophrenia (yeah, kids get that). Would you think she "deserved it" then? Considering that you see people with PTSD all of the time, I am actually shocked you are so dismissive and condescending of a child who was handcuffed and thrown into a police car (a very traumatic experience for a six year old) who is now starting to show signs of it. |

Petition is out to have arrest record expunged with out funds to pay for it.
CBS News (CBS/WMAZ) MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - A 6-year-old elementary school student was handcuffed and arrested Friday after she allegedly threw a tantrum in class. CBS affiliate WMAZ reports that according to the police report, the girl tore items off the walls and threw furniture. The report also says the girl knocked over a shelf that injured the school principal. The girl was crying in the principal's office at Creekside Elementary before police arrived. When the officer tried to calm the child, she resisted and was handcuffed. "Our policy is that any detainee transported to our station in a patrol vehicle is to be handcuffed in the back. There is no age discrimination on that rule," said Milledgeville Chief of Police Dray Swicord. Police took the young girl to the police station where she was charged with simple assault and damage to property. As she is only 6-years-old, she will not have to go to court. The girl was also suspended until August. Apparently the mother says that her daughter is traumatized by this and shouts "THEY'RE COMING TO GET ME!" at night. I'm sorry you threw an uncontrollable fit, you got an arrest record now. It's part of life. The 6 year old was charged with battery. She deserved it. So... STOP COMING TO MY HOUSE AND SENDING ME E-MAILS ABOUT YOUR STUPID PETITION! Rant over. |
