Well, maybe.
Akira is a classic though, we all know that. And still to this day I wouldn't regret saying that it probably has some of the best animation ever, considering the majority of the movie was completely drawn unlike many animes today. (The city looked so amazing). And Akira was rated R, this movie is PG-13 so it might not be as violent. (Not that that would really affect anything, just pointing it out) I think I might not enjoy it as much as Akira just because Akira was much more futuristic, and I'm a big futuristic fan, but I still don't have doupts in this movie. |

NO WAY! Akira cannot be beaten.....Akira is (as i like to call it) one of the few Foundeing Fathers of anime..it cme out in 1987 and its better then alot of animes now. The graphics are amazeing........It cannot be Beaten! |

hmm, my mistake. It just looks like the same animation as Kiki's Delivery Service and Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away...But I get it now. I dunno if it'll be better then Akira...but I can't wait to see it! |

thanks for pointing that out before i had to draft, Miyazaki is a little short japanese man with a gotee, but as for steamboy i think it will be a worthy successor to akira, i mean the animation looks top notch, but not only that it looks like it has a really good story to it as well. |

Yeah this movie looks interesting and the art is reminiscent of Akira. But Haoyo Miyazaki did Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Akira was made by Katsuhrio Otomo. Anyways I'm really looking forward to this, it would be great if this revolutionized the anime industry like Akira did way back in 1988. |

It looks like a pretty good movie, my friend, his brother, and a few other friends, plus me are gonna go see the movie when it comes out.
This might be the first decent movie i've seen on the big screen in years. |

Guess we'll have to see what she thought then. |

They call it the successor to Akira because it is the director's first movie since Akira.
But yeah, I did see a trailer for it and it looks cool. I know that Rogue saw it already at a special screaning... and it was subbed. |

I never knew the director was female.
But yeah, I recently saw a commercial for this movie, and it really does look very good. I'm hoping it might come to theaters here ... but I'm not sure about that, either way I'll probably see it eventually because I loved Akira. |

I've seen a small portion of this movie and so far, it looks like a good anime. This woman that's making all these aimes...Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and now Steamboy...the animation is definatly awsome. and from the r other movies i've seen, the stories are either good or great. So, i'm expecting at least the same from stamboy. I dunno about you, but I wouldn't call it a worthy successor to Akira just yet...Akira was pretty bad*ss |
