So fast. The White House found out about it several HOURS after the effect. Yes, there are other factors of the meaning of the date that are important to me...but ever since grade school, 7th grade, I'd say, every year they spoke of the anniversary, it's always been kinda a custom of mind to chose a point to educate myself specifically upon. **shrugs** Either way, it truly is a day of infamy. So, it's been seven decades since the attacks on Pearl Harbor.
Hundreds died, and the United States entered into a war with Japan, which had become an ally of Nazi-controlled Germany and Fascist Italy. Thousands went to war, women left their homes to work in the factories, and the Allies eventually emerged victorious at great cost. And now, Japan is one of the United States' great allies, as are Germany and Italy through NATO. It's fascinating that just months ago, we commemorated the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. |
