I've cut myself before... on several occasions. I had it hard a year and a half ago, and I couldn't find a good way to cope with it. Another occasion was when I just felt so... worthless to anyone.. it was so horrible. I dug myself into a hole then couldn't climb out of it. Causing pain is a way for me to vent my anger...

If I remember correctly, in my government class we learned that it was illegal in any state to display religious insigina on government property.

meh, I merely stand in respect. I give more respect than the people actually saying the pledge. =/

And as for "500 years ago.." ...The US wasn't really founded until the latter part of the 1700s. that's a bit less than 300 years ago. The founders wanted a complete break of religion dominance in government.

It isn't legal. They needed to explain why they needed the tape. It might have even been that it was being used as evidence.

And I believe it was Roosevelt who said we need to question authority.

I know all about parent issues.. My dad died when I was 16... which was after a horrible chain of events, lasting 3 or more years.

My mom is overprotective. I'm 17 and she never lets me do anything without her, and when I say to her that I would rather be with a friend, she's hurt. And in the same breath as protecting me, she is pretty much dropping me off the edge of a cliff as soon as I turn 18, by not helping me with ANYTHING.

I'm sorry to hear about this, Benja, but I think I'm with Avatar of Law here.. although I agree with you as well. My cousin was run over by a drunk driver, killed, and the driver only got rehab and probation for 6 months.

We had a program at school yesterday called "Every 15 minutes.." It was a mock car crash in which 5 people died. There were fireman, police, the supposedly drunk driver, a helicopter, they even had the jaws of life to pry open the car doors. The 5 people who died were 'popular' people. There was all sorts of stage makeup, and the people on the 'scene' did what they would normally do in this situation. They closed off a very busy street to do this.. was very interesting. Kind of sad to know that this type of thing happens so often.

It was sad today though, because they held a 'memorial service' for all of us to watch. The mothers of the 'dead' kids wrote a letter to their kids and read it out loud, and the 'dead' kids read a letter to their parents. Very emotional. One of the girls I knew, and she started bawling when she was reading this letter to her mom. They showed a video of what happened too. From when they left the scene, in the ambulance and helicopter to the E.R.. It was so realistic it was scary.. So many people were crying.. and I couldn't for some reason. Probably because I have too much death related to drinking in my life.. or that I knew that they weren't really dead.
