To provide an alternative non-race example, consider a classroom. As many of you may know, there are these things called tests. And oftentimes, there is a good part of the class who bomb these tests. It doesn't sound rude at all for one "bomber" to joke to another how awfully the other did on the test, with the mutual understanding that neither of them is in a better position. But if someone aces the test, and then does the same to someone who flunked it, it might easily be construed as quite offensive, because of the discrepancy between the two parties.

Heh, I must have come off as really prejudice with this post, but again, I know of plenty of black people who are awesome, and I don't have a problem with them in general, just with what they do.

If any of you actually read my webcomic (which is rather unlikely...) then you should notice that I am getting more and more annoyed by racism, and the mentality behind it.

The silly thing? People like the KKK or the Black Panthers don't really bother me!

It's strange. If you make it your lifestyle, it's fine... However, if you let it AFFECT your lifestyle, it drives me up the wall...

Let's take a different approach to this.

Let's say that your favorite "not-white" comedian says the N-Word on national television. What happens?

Nothing?

Nice.

Now let's say that your favorite WHITE comedian says the N-Word, (out of seething anger, and this being an outburst after no history of any racial remarks, whatsoever, and he only did it to be able to say the one thing that would most piss off the man who'd been pissing him off all night long, and in fact was saying racist things about him in the first place,) in a bar, with nobody around to hear it, except for another black person, and somebody with a camera phone.

HO-SNAP!

Or better yet, let's say that a white man says a racial line, that isn't even the dreaded N-Word, and he intended it as a joke. What happens?

He loses his job? Dude!

But if a guy, on national television, hell, on CSpan, says, calmly, in clear conscience, that he believes that... well...



What happens? Nothing at all? A few (4) angry little videos on youtube, calling him the "black Hitler" and that's all? Why hasn't he lost his job? Why hasn't he been universally hated by everyone, the way Kramer and Itus have?

Oh...

I get it...

It's because he's black, isn't it?

I guess it just doesn't make sense to call a black man a racist.

Which leads me to my next question.

Why not?

I think that it's syntax. A "racist" is a white person, just as a "nigger" is a black person, or all the other racial slurs that elude me because I honestly don't know which ones apply to which ethnic groups.

"Racist" is a racial slur! That's why you almost never hear anybody who isn't of Caucasian decent being called "a Racist". Not the adjective. "Racist" is still a word that can be used to describe people places and things, but when you turn it into a noun, it's a slur.

I'm going to, from now on, treat it as such. People don't tend to call me racist that often, (except in passing when I refuse to give my Latino friend the answers to the math test I'm taking, and even then it's only a joke)

...But the next time I do, and the person calling me a racist ISN'T white... I'm going to sue his ass for all he's got (which probably wont be much, because he's mexican...) (and I dare you to call me racist for that... I dare you...)

White people? We finally have our word that only we can say. High five.
