| This poem was one of my assignments...I'm only giving background on this one because it was simply more than just "write a poem." We had to take lines from several poems and parody them. Each one of my lines had to have the same rythm as the line I spoofed. While I drew my lines from several poems, most of my lines came from a poem about Walt Whitman. ^_^
Oh Disney, Walt Disney What dreams I have of you this night, Walt Disney. The twinkling stars that guide me into sleep, so sound, so sweet. I see you, Walt Disney. Limitless, happy young creator. Thinking of mice and ducks in the world you now live and eyeing Peter Pan's Lost Boys. I know you thought up first drafts of each: The princess of White. The Ears that took flight. How to Wish on Stars. We glided all night through the ballroom floor until the twelfth chime. I lost my slipper of glass on the stairs and never looked back to you. Our happy ending, Walt Disney? Was when you returned my shoe, just as I awoke from slumber. |
